Orlaya grows to around 60-70 cms and seems to just fit in with other plants in a border.
Fairly self supporting and resilient.
Sow in spring, summer, late summer and early autumn.
Sow when temperatures are around 15-20 degrees C. When sowing directly- work the soil a little and sow thinly. Cover lightly with soil or compost. Thin plants out to about 20 cms apart, when they come through and can be handled. Water lightly once sown. Germination will take around 7- 21 days at the right temperature.
Sow either in the garden directly or in to small individual pots in seed mix.
Orlaya hates to have her roots messed with so take care when transplanting & water in well.
Many people swear by Seasol to help plants recover from the shock of being transplanted, but the best idea is to sow the seed in to small pots and transplant out when the roots are well established so that the mix doesn't fall away from the roots when tipped out.
